Atholl Highlanders v. Harris Academy FP

Saturday saw Harris take their second away trip of the season, this time north to Pitlochry to take on the other ‘new’ team in the league Atholl Highlanders. In a hard fought first half both teams took time to find their footing but Atholl provided the early pressure and went ahead with a penalty. Harris hit back through Adam Wood who managed to find space where there was non to go over for a try, Kenny Clarkson then converted. The rest of the half went back and forward with Atholl getting their own try and Harris getting a further penalty. As half time arrived the scores were level at 10 -10.

The second half saw game continue in the same vain with both teams going at each other to gain an upper hand. Harris took the lead again through a Kenny Clarkson penalty midway through the half but Atholl hit back in spectacular fashion with two quick converted tries which took them well ahead 24 - 13. The Harris heads lifted for the final 15 minutes of the match which saw Atholl endure constant pressure. This resultant pressure saw Kenny Clarkson break through the Atholl lines to score a deserved individual try. At 24 - 18 Harris tried to push for the victory but couldn’t find a way through a solid Atholl defensive line and it wasn’t to be.

On full time both teams knew they’d been through a battle, and conversation turned to the possible return leg after the split.

Man of the Match Award

Atholl gave the award for visiting MOTM to Peter ‘Snakey’ Bruce who was then overlay eager to get up and take the applause of the crowd. Well done Snakey.
